Pātea – A digital platform designed by Māori, for Māori, to help free whānau from the burdens of gambling harm
Aotearoa is leading the world in gambling harm innovation with the launch of Pātea – a groundbreaking digital platform designed by Māori, for Māori, to help free whānau from the burdens of gambling harm.
Together, we bring over 60 years of experience across public health, digital innovation, clinical care, and whānau-led service design. Our strength lies in connecting deeply with whānau and communities to co-create culturally grounded, clinically sound and purpose-driven services.
We have combined our broad ranging skills and expertise to build and deliver Pātea, a world first indigenously designed, built and operated, digital platform to support Māori and other communities suffering from the impact of gambling harm in their daily lives.
Pātea is both for people who are worried about their own gambling as well as the concerned whānau and friends of people with gambling challenges, who want to find ways to support their loved ones in overcoming the powerful grip that addictive and problem gambling behaviours can have.
Why Pātea
Because whānau deserve services that reflect their world, respect their mana and respond to their realities.
Whether it’s through lived experience, online counselling, cultural reconnection, or leading-edge AI, our collective exists to create virtual services that are designed with and for the people they serve — so whānau can thrive, not just survive.
Pātea was created by:
Hāpai Te Hauora, Whare Tiaki Hauora & Tai Pari Mōhio.
Combining over 60 years of experience in public health, mental health, and digital innovation.
Co-designed with whānau who have lived experience of gambling harm.
