Josephina Fa’amasa Petelonila Johansson
Talofa lava, my name is Josephina, and I am delighted to be part of the National Tobacco Control Advocacy Service as a Tobacco Control Advisor. My journey into this role began with the desire to support communities in need and to work toward preventing illness and disease. That passion led me to pursue a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in Public Health, from Auckland University of Technology.
Since joining Hāpai in 2022, I’ve been fortunate to work on the frontline alongside communities, supporting smokefree activations and quit attempts. I love engaging with whānau and individuals, but I also enjoy the advocacy side of my work, where I can help influence positive change at both the sector and government levels.
For me, this mahi is about more than just tobacco control - it's about making a real difference in the lives of our whānau and working towards a future where our communities thrive in better health and well-being.
