I am an indigenous mother with whakapapa to Ngāpuhi and raising three tamariki with whakapapa to Ngāi Tahu and Sāmoa and te reo as their first language. As a senior lecturer Hauora (Māori health and wellbeing) in Te Pūtahi a Toi School of Māori Knowledge at Massey University I provide innoNative teaching, research, and supervision in kaupapa Māori and whānau-centred solutions to elevate the health and wellbeing of iwi, hāpu, whānau, and Māori communities. My PhD explored supports for young Māori parents and I continue to actively research and advise in the areas of Māori infant and maternal health and wellbeing, Māori youth development, and hauora and whānau ora more broadly. Providing practical support to whānau to weave their own wahakura enables me to continue to engage and disseminate my research findings in practical, meaningful and mana-enhancing ways.
