Kia ora, my name is Brooke. I spent most of my childhood on Auckland's North Shore, where I completed all levels of education, from primary through to tertiary. From an early age, I developed a deep passion for helping those in need and working to prevent ill health and disease, which naturally led me to pursue a career in hauora. In 2018, I graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (Health Promotion), and since then, I’ve worked with Te Whānau o Waipareira, the New Zealand Dental Association, and Te Waka Hauora (Māori Health and Vulnerable Populations Team – Nelson Marlborough DHB). I’ve also completed further study with Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha in education and Te Wānanga o Aotearoa in Te Reo Māori.
Since the birth of my daughter, Arihia Kareariki, my desire to make a lasting impact on the hauora of our tamariki has deepened. I believe that achieving equity for Māori requires a comprehensive approach, leaving no stone unturned. My goal is to specialise in the integration of hauora and education, with the vision of ensuring that our tamariki start their lives in the best possible way—healthy, happy, supported, and connected. Mauri ora!
