When you join Wai July, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your street address and city (to send you resources or giveaways)
  • Your region and iwi (to understand where participants are engaging from)
  • Your date of birth (to confirm eligibility and ensure appropriate engagement)
  • Your ethnicity and gender (to help ensure the campaign is reaching and supporting the right communities, especially tāne Māori)
  • Your responses about goals and motivations for participating in Wai July

We only collect the information we need to support your involvement in Wai July.

How We Use Your Information

We will use your information to:

  • Support your participation in Wai July
  • Communicate with you (e.g. send updates, encouragement, or prizes)
  • Provide relevant resources and support based on your responses
  • Track anonymised data (e.g. number of signups by region or age group)
  • Evaluate and improve the programme

We do not use your information for marketing unless you have given permission.

Who Can Access Your Information

Your information is only accessed by authorised staff at Hāpai Te Hauora who are directly involved in the Wai July campaign.
We will not share your information with anyone else unless:

  • You give us permission, or
  • We are legally required to

Your Rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct your information if it is wrong or outdated
  • Withdraw from the campaign at any time and request your data be deleted
