Born and raised in Kirikiriroa, Waikato. Whakapapa to Isle of Man - Scotland, Kent - England, Oahu - Hawaii, and Aitutaki, Kuki Airani.  

Melanie has a background in business management and development. In 2019, Melanie embarked on a new journey within the healthcare sector, utilising her expertise within Te Whatu Ora - Counties Manukau where she has worked in both Pacific Health and Smoking Cessation services. Currently completing a Bachelor's of Health Science - Public and Environmental Health Major with a Minor in Social Science at Auckland's University of Technology. Her current focus is advocacy and facilitation of Māori and Pacific health initiatives focusing on harm prevention and improving pae ora (quality of life/healthy futures).
