Leitu Tufuga
National Engagement Lead

Leitu Tufuga is of Samoan (villages of Vailoa – District of Aleipata, Apia & Asau in Savaí’i ) and Tongan decent (village of Houma, Tongatapu). She is passionate about growing capacity of people so that families and communities can lead change, and contribute to effective policies that can improve their health and wellbeing.

Leitu is an innovative and creative leader. She believes in weaving and supporting stories from people who can paint the picture about the problem and provide the solutions too. She has contributed to advocating for better health & social outcomes. She brings with her experience from libraries, local government, community and youth development, NGO sector and in public health.

From Leitu: “ Smokefree by 2025 needs to be a reality for our Maori and Pacific people’s health and wellbeing. We need collective bold action and leadership from our communities and leaders.  We all can play a role, and if you can support someone from your aiga on their quit journey you’re be amazed to see the significant impact that will have on their health & wellbeing.
