Talofa Lava, my name is Josephina and I have re-joined the Hāpai team in the new role of Smokefree Activator (midlands). In my final year of university, I had the privilege of working at Hāpai te Hauora in the tobacco control team as a student intern. During this time, I was able to form connections with Māori and Pasifika experts in the health sector and gain invaluable knowledge and experience. I am so excited to be back with the Hāpai team advocating the smokefree 2025 kaupapa.
Through this mahi I hope to increase the number of children and young people who remain smokefree. A key focus area to achieving this goal by 2025 is reducing their exposure to smoked tobacco products and supporting parents and whanau to quit smoking.
