My name is Brooke, I grew up mostly on the North Shore of Auckland where I attended all levels of education, primary right through to tertiary. From a young age I developed a burning desire to help people in need and work to prevent ill health and disease, hence my pathway into a career in hauora. I graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Health Science (Health Promotion) and since then have worked with Te Whānau o Waipareira, The New Zealand Dental Association, and Te Waka Hauora (Māori Health and Vulnerable Populations Team – Nelson Marlborough DHB). Currently I am studying fulltime in the area of education with Te Wananga o Waitaha and parttime in Te Ara Reo with Te Wananga o Aotearoa. I believe that in the pursuit of equity for Māori we must leave no stone unturned. Therefore, I aspire to specialise in the integration of hauora and education with the hopes to see our tamariki beginning life on the front foot - healthy, happy, supported and connected. Mauri ora!
