Aporina holds the position of Kaiwhakahaere Auahi Kore ( Smokefree Coordinator) for the Bay of Plenty District Health Board having recently returned home to the Eastern Bay of Plenty. An exciting role which will see systems change within the hospitals and in the community. Her knowledge in Tobacco Control is extensive.
Aporina trained under Papa Amster Reedy in early 2000 . In 2005 Aporina worked for Te Hotu Manawa Maori as the Midland Smokefree Advisor National Advisory to the Ministry, she was also a member of the Midland Smokefree Steering Group and Initiated the Eastern Bay of Plenty Smokefree Coalition. Aporina moved to Te Tairawhiti in 2011 and revived the Tairawhiti Smokefree Coalition group Taki Tahi Toa Mano which remains an active coalition today. A year ago Aporina trained as a Smokefree Enforcement Officer. Aporina is currently a member of the National Hauora Coalition SF Advisory.
